May swooping through

The last few weeks I have been enjoying watching the birds in the backyard. We have 2 bird feeders. We had buntings, doves, brown headed cowbirds, grosbeaks, cardinals, thrashers and other birds visiting. It has been fun. For a couple of days now we have had a daddy cardinal teaching his 2 chicks to fly and eat. The first day the chicks were sitting on the peach tree limbs and daddy would grab some feed from the feeder and fly to the chicks and feed them. Last night he had the chicks eating on the feeders. They are still a bit clumsy.

My seven sisters rose bush bloomed. It was very pretty.

A few days later, we celebrated our 33rd anniversary by visiting Fairhope AL.
We went to the rose garden by Mobile Bay.

The Rest of Feb Sewing Projects

My Initial challenge (with N2Quilting group) top is finished. I decided to make it wall or lap size.

Here is a purse I made. The pattern was free from Connecting Threads

This is a top I finished from lottery and Charity blocks from my TBLovers 2 group. The top is going to the LA quilter and then to the Children's Home. I love the way the block combination makes your eye dance.

And last I have been working on my Thimbleberries Hometown Christmas Quilt. It was this quilt project that got me started into blogging. I am almost finished with the top. This month I finished the last three sections, sewed the sashing, first dark border and the rail border. It is awaiting its finial border.

January 2009

Here it is the last day (night) of January and only one post. So much for blogging more often. But in my defence I have been busy sewing.

One of the groups I belong to make members a 6" heart block, HOF (Heart of Friendship) to share joy or sorrow with other members of the group. This is one I made this month.

This next block is 9" Friendship Star
variation and is a for a friend in another group. We are swapping One on One.

Here is my youngest son,Paul's birthday present.
I had planned on making 3 of my sons rag quilts for Christmas but time got away. Paul turned 23 this month.

More of the purses or totes that I made.
I also finished my 1st quarter Thimbleberries 2009 BOM
plus a little extra (pinwheels)
I also wanted to work some more on my Nancy Rink BOM that I'm doing with TBLovers2... so my 31 sashing blocks are done. Woo Hoo!
I'm also working on my initial challenge quilt, but will post more about that latter.
