I love to make fabric post cards.
Here are a few that I made this year.

 

Tote

I have been working on this sewing/quilting tote for a very good friend. I hope she will like it.

 

 

 

This side features machine embroidery and button embellishments.

 The embroidery designs are by

BFC-Creations

 They are very generous with their designs.

 

 



 

This side is a pieced 12" finish quilt block called Stepping Stones. The block is quilted in the ditch and the teal is free motion quilted feather.

The side pockets are also fmq in a white rayon thread. I used several designs

clams,swirls flames, jester hats,outlining basically just whatever I fancied at the moment.

On the bright pink I fmq meandering loops. A good bit of that quilting is hid inside the pockets.

A few years ago was the start of this ufo. My local Little Red Hens group chose a member each month to make a block for. For my month I chose a 12" finished " jewel box" block to be done in 30's reproductions and wow or cream backgrounds. You can find a 16" finished block pattern

I had sewed my blocks together a while back. Earlier this month I decided this was going to be my February ufo.

 

After auditioning several fabrics I decided to add a pink border. Then I layered and basted my quilt. The batting is 4 oz. polyester batting. Backing is a pretty blue fabric with little blue birds in small hearts. So I knew I wanted little birds and hearts to be part of the quilting.

I began by quilting the chain squares with a freehand curved echo inside each square.

 

 

Then using a stencil I marked the little birds and freehand drew the loops in the white areas around the larger 4 piece squares and quilted them. On the larger 4 pieced squares I decided to free hand quilt hearts with 2 echos. I quilted the border with loops and hearts that I learned this last year in the FMQ challenge over at SewCalGals blog from Ann Fahl.

 

 

The I chose a pretty pink on pink for the binding  cut 2 1/4 ' wide. Folded in half and machine sewed sewed it to the right side. Then I hand sewed the fold to the back.

 

 

Then I trimmed all my thread ends and rinsed out the marks.

 

 

 

I also made a couple of wonky star blocks.

This was from a demonstration that Sharon gave at the February Little Red Hens meeting.

Mine is a little wobbly where the seams are sewn on the diagonal. So I have it pinned to help get the wobble in control.

Not so quilty

Last month, one of my son's friend sent 2 potholders home with him. The pot holders were crocheted. I studied them for a while trying to figure out how they were made, but couldn't.  It has been quite some time (years), since I've crocheted.
Well, at my Thimbleberries/Moda bee, my quilt bee. One of the ladies was working on her potholder the very same crocheted pattern and was able to  show and tell me how to make them.

I am hooked (ha ha).  Here are two that I made since along with their Hand towel.

 

And for a little quilty ~  here are a few scrapy blocks
